With a mixed team the U15's travelled to the WG Grace Memorial Ground. With 1x u11 3x under 13's and most regular u15's basking in the sunshine on their Holibobs it was a makeshift side to say the least. Lodway were 1 light on numbers from with the outset and hoping for an early finish in a county game to have 10.
Lodway batted first and lost the league's leading run scorer Tank 4th ball snicking off behind. CG and WK then steadied the ship with CG punishing anything short and wide. Disaster then struck as WK had to retire hurt. JL strode to the crease with little opportunity with the bat this season hit some good strong shots before being castled by the spinner. Meanwhile CG went about his batting, WJ also took his chance in the middle picking up some handy runs. When CG fell for 29 including 6 fours it looked like Lodway were going to be bowled out cheap but the youngsters dug deep with BC facing 21 balls scoring 5 making sure we batted the 18 overs. Lodway finished on 77-6

With light going to be an issue the second innings started promptly with ZB not going to arrive and WK unable to take the field we were down to 8. Tank marshalled the young troops into position and we were off. CG took two wickets in the 2nd over, both the openers were back in the shed. First change was the u11 JC who bowled an immaculate line and length showing great control beyond his years. JL joined the party after sorting his front arm picked up his wicket bowling the number 4 batter. The run rate was steadily climbing as the youngsters bowled very well backed up with some assured fielding. EP picked up a wicket with Tanko pulling off a worldy catch one handed above his head that was travelling for six runs on the 35 yard boundary. As the light was fading and the run rate going up Young JC bowled 4 overs for a miserly 8 runs.
CG returned to the attack picking up another wicket finishing with 3-14 but there was still work to do. It was down to the skipper Tank who picked up 4 wickets in his last 2 overs Bowling the home side out 14 runs short. Tank finished with figures of 4-9
A Big Thank you to JC,BC,EP,JP who filled in at short notice i hope you enjoyed the experience.

Lodway have now gone top of their group with only 1 game left scheduled lets hope we can stay there.
With many of the U15's moving up through the system this would be a well deserved finished to their junior campaign.
Coach Rice said hopefully if it all works out a New Challenge will lay ahead next year in the u16 North Somerset Smash.

Well Done Lads and Lady a Terrific Season And a Big Thank You to all Parents and Carers and Supporters who have watched over the 2024 Season.
